5 Specific Journaling Ideas that Take Little to No Energy But Are Inspiring and Exciting!

Most of us have been there. Too tired to pick up a pen but still in the mood to write something down so we remember it.

Most of the time we hear about specific kinds of journals. Gratitude Journals, Diaries, Planners, Listing Books, Vision Board Planners, etc…

In this blog post, however, I want to share with you how you can take any journal and make it your own by mixing and matching some of these ideas based on whatever feels to most exciting to you!

1. Writing Lists

I love making lists! One of the easiest and least energy-sucking ways to journal! I usually fall into a flow state where I create a list of “what I would bring on this road trip” which may lead to “Places I will Stop on my Roadtrip” and so on and so on…. This is an absolutely awesome way to connect with yourself and your hidden ideas ;)

2. Writing Affirmations

Hold on… I don’t mean just writing random affirmations. I mean taking one specific affirmation and writing it maybe 5 or 10 times in a row. This is great to do in the morning right when you wake up, or in the evening, so you can program your brain to naturally emanate that thought.

3. Recording Inspiring quotes

Ever read something inspirational in a book or on Instagram and simply save it and never see it again? Next time a quote sparks excitement or deep meaning, just write it down in your journal. That’s it. If you want to expand on the idea, go for it. You will thank yourself for writing it down later.

4. Answer Journal Prompts

My friend recommended the App Think Ladder which is amazing at guiding you to respond to journal prompts that are actually relevant to what you’re experiencing. Put some music on and get to know yourself on a deeper yet enlightening way!

5. Recording specific details of your day that you don’t want to forget!

Little things like “the way the sun felt on my skin when I was walking outside.” or “the texture of that meal I ate with my bestie at that restaurant on high street” will easily spark tiny memories when you read back your journal!

I realized over time that I prefer reading light and gentle memories from my journal rather than reminiscing on old rants I wrote down. Your journal is your space, so do whatever feels intuitive and natural!

Make sure you have a journal that excites you! One thing is for sure… I definitely judge journals by their cover (how cheesy.. Oh well LAWL)
